Art v Death  is an ongoing series about the power of Art to transform and sustain our struggle to survive.

The project includes the feature documentary “Thanks for the Mammaries, Bettina Hubby” as well as a series of short documentaries about other professional artists and lay people who are using art to help process serious illness and the fear of death.
Art v. Death looks at the psychosocial and emotional impacts of disease through the lens of art to bridge the communication gap between the healthy and the sick.  It also looks at the ways in which the community and society at large can support an individual in their struggle, rather than marginalizing the individual for undergoing the natural, though  tragic, course of human life.
The possibility that the nearness of death may impart some wisdom or insight into life that might be captured through art also leads, ultimately, to the idea that some piece of art may live beyond the artist’s death, bridging the chasm between the living and the dead.
